Growing Number of Securities Lawsuits Boosting Prices For D&O Insurance: The record number of securities lawsuits against foreign firms is being blamed in part for the rising cost of directors and officers insurance. The number of securities suits against foreign businesses rose 39 percent in 2018. One insurance broker said premiums have increased anywhere between six and 30 percent. (Wall Street Journal)

New Tennessee Law A “Win for Consumers And For Companies”: Nathan Morris, the vice president of legislative affairs for the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform, called Tennessee’s new law regarding advertising for drugs and medical device lawsuits “a win for consumers and for companies.” Data from the Food and Drug Administration has found that these ads have led some consumers to stop taking prescriptions without consulting a doctor.
