A California lawyer seemed to suggest that lawyers will soon target new transportation startups that allow consumers to pick up and ride scooters in big cities, Bloomberg reports.
Startups like Bird and Lime have placed motorized scooters across a number of major U.S. cities. Consumers reserve a scooter through a mobile app and then ride it for a certain period of time. John Perlstein, a Los Angeles personal injury attorney, said “lawyers will be lawyers when there’s potential for some money to be made” in lawsuits against these startups, and some lawyers are “trying to keep the doors open and hope for a million-dollar case to come their way” when accidents arise.
Though records show there have been no lawsuit filings yet, the story notes how “lawyers say it’s just a matter of time.”
